Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy (REPs Accredited)
Introduction
The Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy is a vocationally related qualification (VRQ), at level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework. Candidates will expand their knowledge of anatomy and physiology and exercise deliver to assess and treat soft tissue dysfunction and provide post care advice to adults.
Target Candidates
Exercise and fitness professionals and medical professionals wishing to broaden their skills to enable them to perform sports massage therapy with adults (16+).
Entry Requirements
Qualification(s) in anatomy, physiology and exercise techniques equivalent to level 2 (for example Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing.
A first aid qualification, minimum First Aid Appointed Persons.
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and candidates should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 3.
Performing sports massage is a physical activity and candidates will be need to be fit enough to carry this out.
Qualification Structure
This qualification comprises six mandatory units:
Unit 1 – Clinical Issues in Sports Massage
Unit 2 – Further Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Massage
Unit 3 – Sports Massage Techniques
Unit 4 – Assessment of the Client for Sports Massage
Unit 5 – Soft Tissue Injury and Repair
Unit 6 – Post Care Advice following Sports Massage
Successful achievement of all six units must be achieved for the full qualification.
